I use everything I sell

I started Hobby Heaven because I kept buying these things anyway.

I build my own electronics and I sew and tailor my own clothes, which means I’ve spent years ordering switches, bearings, boards and haberdashery from wherever was cheapest. Usually that meant waiting five weeks for something from overseas, with a listing so vague I couldn’t tell what I was actually going to get, or paying a UK retailer four times the price for the privilege of having it next week.

So I started stocking the things I use myself, at prices I’d be happy to pay.

Everything on this site is held here in Wolverhampton. Nothing is drop-shipped — if a listing says it’s in stock, it’s on a shelf in my workshop, and I pick and pack it myself. That also means if you email me with a question about a product, you’re talking to the person who has actually used it, not a call centre reading from the same listing you’re looking at.

What I try to get right

  • Proper specifications. Real dimensions, real ratings, real tolerances. If I don’t know something about a product, I’ll say so rather than guess.
  • Small orders welcome. You shouldn’t have to buy a hundred of something to get a sensible price on one.
  • Postage that isn’t a punishment. From £1.99 and free over £25!
  • Honest stock levels. In stock means in stock, here, today.

Can't find what you need?

I’m adding products constantly, and I read every single suggestion that comes in. If there’s something you keep struggling to source, tell me — there’s a good chance I’m struggling to source it too.
